Stories behind the story

Everybody knows a story about Cinderella or Snow White or Little Red Riding Hood.
But when something happens, and people are asked to tell about it, the versions don't always fit.
And when asked from different participants of the story- it might become even more exciting to find out their views, reasons etc

So-
* pick a known story (or event)
* put down some characters in it, think of more who might be involved in it...
* let every participant to think of and present their version of the story
Could presented in be either spoken, written or performed way, just as you wish or need :)

This method was presented by Lorena from Italy. Thanks a bunch!!

A fairy-tale in 5 min or 60 seconds

Work in small groups.
Pick a well-known story, i.e. a fairy-tale.
Prepare a short 5-minute play of main scenes and short dialogues to convey the meaning of the story. Present it to others.
Prepare also a quicker-shorter version of the same story which should be presented in 60 seconds....

Loads of fun guaranteed!! Especially with quickies... :D

Day 5- singing, storytelling and melodrama

Friday the 5th was a day full of some more rhymes and singing, storytelling while drawing or using pictures, and finally the most effort-taking part of it- acting out a melodrama.
Fun-fun-fun!!!
The storytelling will be described below, the song needs to be recorded once again (as it was deleted from my mobile by accident...) Melodrama will be posted separately.

Storytelling 1: Good news is... / Bad news is...
* storytelling goes in a circle
* one has got the starting line "Good news is...", the next should continue "but the bad news is..."
* new ideas, people, objects can be brought into the story, but to keep the main character and try to end it up or draw it together somehow with what it had started

Storytelling 2: with slips
* working in groups
* give out slips of paper with parts of story:
1) Once upon a time...
2) And every day...
3) But then one day...
4) And because of that...
5) And because of that...
6) And since that day...

Storytelling 3: draw and tell
* a large paper (piece of wallpaper could be used)
* one starts the story while drawing (doodling, drafting) it to the paper
* then gives turn to the partner, who continues...

Erdim and me drawing-telling the story about a man with goose who layed golden eggs
and was so greedy that wanted to see how much gold he can find inside the goose...

Storytelling 4:  people, objects, places
* lay out different pictures with people, objects and places
*   story is told and pictures laid down one by one

Simple thing- fascinating story

Give everyone a simple thing. Can be just boring pieces like just a boring key, cheap ring, a comb, small figure, button etc.
Let the learners tell their partner (or the whole group if it is not too big) about it, just to describe - what a boring simple thing I have got... :D
Then let them make up a story connected to this thing- how it got to you, whose was it, what happened to it before, how come is it important/interesting/precious?
The story should not be prepared in a very long time, let it rather be a spontaneous and improvised. No accuracy should be followed. It is about speaking fluency and creative story-telling.
Later on- why not to write it down if writing skills are necessary to develop. :)
